Pirate softball is on the rebound after a suspended season last year due to lack of players. Four players return from last years empty season. Marina Figueroa (Modesto), Dani Ranzo (Beyer), Claire Noble (P) Modesto/York College and Kristin King (Utility) from Ripon Christian join several athletes from all over the county to fill rosters spots that look to be very promising for the 2020 season. Rounding out the rest of the roster is Emmilee Boles (transfer from Cuesta College), Lily Dillard (Ripon), Savannah Guzman (Sierra), Alyssa Donaldson, Taylor Brewer, and Morgan Keeney (Waterford), Pricilla Chavez and Samantha Carvajal (Ceres), Aubrey Garcia and Zorayah Isom (Patterson), Leticia Gutierrez (Escalon), Cecili Alvarado (Modesto), Hanna Estrada (Modesto) and Jana Fontana (Beyer). "Numbers are strong and we have players that can play every position," said Donaldson. "It is going to be exciting to see them play. We have a pitching staff with college experience and a few freshman that have playoff experience and section championships." All girls are enrolled in a fall class Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:55 to 6:00 and will work out for the entire fall semester. New players wanting to tryout and be part of the team need to contact Donaldson as soon as possible. Tryouts will be the first week of spring semester to make the final 2020 roster.
