Booth and Streeter Both Capture Spots on MJC's Athlete Spotlight
Jalonn Booth (Merced High School) has been named MJC's Male Athlete of the Month after an outstanding season that also earned him the Valley Conference Defensive MVP. Booth's dominant performance anchored MJC's defense and helped the team capture its fifth consecutive Valley Conference championship. He led the conference in both sacks (16.5) and sack yards (123), while also ranking among the top players in total tackles (41.0) and tackles per game (4.6). Booth's relentless energy, leadership, and ability to make game-changing plays set him apart as one of the top defensive talents in the region. Jaloon and the Pirates are preparing for a home playoff game on November 29th.
Women's golfer Sydney Streeter (Turlock HS) has been named MJC's Female Athlete of the Month after an outstanding season that made school history as the first female golfer to earn Big 8 Conference MVP, boasting an impressive 75 average. Streeter placed second overall at the NorCal Championships with scores of 76 and a one-under-par 71, and also finished second at the State Preview Tournament on October 12–13. Her consistent excellence helped lead the team to second place finishes in both the NorCal's and the Big 8 Conference, securing a spot in the State Championships on November 16–17.
