Silva and Medina Earn February Athlete of the Month Honors at MJC

Modesto Junior College is proud to recognize Ryan Silva and Arianna Medina as the Male and Female Athletes of the Month for the month of February. Ryan Silva delivered an exceptional stretch for the Pirates, earning CCCBCA NorCal Player of the Week honors (Feb. 16–22) while powering the offense with three home runs in four games and an impressive .389 batting average. He drove in nine runs, scored seven, drew four walks, and added two stolen bases, directly contributing to 16 of Modesto's runs during the week and consistently delivering in clutch moments with his power and discipline at the plate.   

 

On the women's side, Arianna Medina has been a key performer in singles for the Pirates, starting the season 4–0 highlighted by a straight-sets victory over ARC's Melanie Noriega before battling in a tough three-set match against No. 1 ranked Sierra. She recently improved to 5–2 after earning the Pirates' lone singles victory against COS and continues to excel both on the court and in the classroom, maintaining an outstanding 3.85 GPA as a sophomore.
