Pirates Advance to 3C2A Super Regionals After Dominant Opening Round Performance
The Modesto Junior College baseball team delivered a commanding performance in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association NorCal Regionals, earning victories over Reedley College and College of San Mateo to punch their ticket to the next stage of postseason play.
The Pirates showcased their depth and resilience throughout the regional round, stringing together multiple strong outings on both sides of the ball. MJC opened the weekend with a decisive win over Reedley College, setting the tone early with timely hitting and solid pitching. The momentum carried into the following games, as the Pirates continued to execute at a high level, ultimately securing another key victory over San Mateo to clinch advancement.
Across the four-game regional slate, Modesto consistently found ways to produce offensively while limiting opponents with effective pitching and defense. The Pirates' balanced attack and composure in high-pressure moments proved to be the difference, as they navigated the competitive bracket with confidence.
With the opening round behind them, MJC now advances to the 3C2A NorCal Super Regionals, where they will host Santa Rosa Junior College in a best-of-three series at Bo Aiello Field within Jerry Streeter Ball Park, Modesto Junior College East Campus. The Super Regionals are scheduled for May 7–9, with Modesto serving as one of the NorCal host sites alongside Fresno, Feather River, and Ohlone.
The series opener is set for Thursday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m., as the Pirates look to continue their postseason run in front of a home crowd.
Riding the momentum of a strong regional showing, MJC will aim to carry its winning form into the Super Regionals with a trip to the state championship on the line.
