5-Peat Valley League Champion MJC is the State Playoff No. 2 seed
The Modesto Junior College Pirates are heading back to the postseason with momentum and history on their side. Fresh off capturing their fifth consecutive Valley League title, MJC (8-2, 5-0 NVL) has been awarded the No. 2 seed in the Northern California Football Conference (NCFC) State Playoffs, earning an opening-round bye.
Bay 6 rivals Diablo Valley (9-1, 4-1 Bay 6) and City College of San Francisco (7-3, 4-1 Bay 6) received the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively, and will each host quarterfinal matchups. The Valley League's Fresno City College (6-4, 4-1 NVL) secured the No. 5 seed, while Butte College (8-2, 4-1 NNL) — the National NorCal champion — claimed the sixth and final playoff spot.
With the bye week in hand, MJC will host the winner of the Diablo Valley vs. Butte quarterfinal in the NCFC Semifinals on November 29th.
The full semifinal lineup is as follows:
- San Francisco/Fresno City winner at (1) San Mateo (9-1)
- Butte/Diablo Valley winner at (2) Modesto (8-2)
The Pirates will look to continue their dominant postseason tradition as they aim for another trip to the State Championship.
