Modesto 200 Medley Relay Team Breaks School Record at State Championships
The Modesto Junior College (MJC) Men's Swim Team made waves at the 3C2A State Swimming and Diving Championships, held May 1–3 at Santa Rosa Junior College, with a standout performance by the 200-yard Medley Relay team, who set a new school record.
The relay squad—Moises Alvarado (So, Sierra High), Cohen Harris (So, Turlock High), Alex Castillo (Fr, Bullard High), and Donovan Armstrong (So, Ripon High)—placed 11th overall, clocking a time of 1:36.52. That performance broke the school record previously set at the 2024 State Championships.
This milestone capped a strong showing by the Pirates at the season finale. The same quartet also competed in the 400-yard Medley Relay, finishing 11th and earning the second-fastest time in school history for that event.
Sophomore Cohen Harris also delivered an impressive individual performance, finishing 7th in the 200-yard breaststroke—earning a state medal—and placing 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke, where he set a new personal best.
Overall, MJC wrapped up the weekend with a 21st-place finish out of 40 schools, closing the season with historic performances and continued momentum for the program.
