MJC Tennis Teams Battle Hard in Playoffs
The men traveled to Cabrillo college yesterday to take on the #3 seeded Hawks. Brady Alves (Manteca) and Julian Marquez (Central Catholic) both won their singles matches and then partnered up at the #3 doubles position to win 8-4, but it wasn't enough and the Pirates fell to the Hawks 3-6.
The women traveled to Fresno yesterday to play the #4 seeded Rams. Playing without their #2 singles player, Melina Mejia (knee injury), the ladies picked up wins at #2 and #3 doubles. Arianna Medina (Atwater), Erika Linares (Downey) and Ava Felix (Los Banos) all battled hard but fell in close third set matches.
Both the men and women finished the season ranked #5 in NorCal. The teams now prepare for the State tournament in Ojai which takes place April 23-26.
