MJC Men’s Water Polo Dominates Bill Anttila Tournament, Repeats as Champions
The Modesto Junior College men's water polo team stayed red-hot at the Bill Anttila Tournament, going a perfect 4-0 on September 12–13 to defend their title and bring home another championship.
The Pirates opened with a thrilling 12-11 victory over Diablo Valley before cruising past Ohlone (12-7), Cabrillo (25-8), and San Mateo (21-8) in commanding fashion.
Cohen Harris and Alex Castillo led the offensive charge with 10 goals apiece, while freshman standout Ben Svoboda added 9 of his own. Holden Puccinelli found the back of the net 8 times, and Keanu Laolagi chipped in with 5 goals. In the cage, Jack Fischer was a force, tallying 28 saves across the weekend to anchor the defense.
Now sitting at 9-3 on the season, MJC shifts its focus to Big 8 Conference play. The Pirates host Santa Rosa in their conference opener this Wednesday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the Dave Ashleigh Aquatic Center on East Campus. Don't miss it!
