MJC Women’s Golf Finish Strong with 2nd Place at the 2025 3C2A NorCal Championships
The Modesto Junior College Women's Golf team delivered an exceptional performance at the 2025 3C2A Northern California Regional Championships, earning a 2nd-place finish at Madera Golf & Country Club on November 9–10. Facing off against the best junior college programs in the region, the Lady Pirates showcased depth, composure, and consistency throughout the two-day event.
Leading the charge for MJC was Sydney Streeter, who posted the team's lowest scores of the tournament with rounds of 76 and 71 (147 total). Streeter's brilliant second round featured a one-under-par 34 on the back nine, highlighted by a clutch birdie on the par-3 16th hole and steady pars down the stretch. Her 71 was the second-lowest individual score of the championship, cementing her as one of NorCal's top performers.
Right behind her, Aaliyah Martinez turned in strong rounds of 82 and 77 (159 total), showing resilience and improvement on day two with sharp iron play and a confident short game. Olivia Machado followed closely, carding 84 and 78 (162), contributing valuable consistency that helped secure the team's runner-up finish. Lilly Garza rounded out MJC's scoring lineup with back-to-back 88s, while Sienna Pimentel (96-97) and Aless Chavez (99-97) provided depth and support throughout the tournament.
As a team, MJC posted rounds of 330 and 314 for a two-day total of 644, finishing just behind the tournament champions in a competitive NorCal field.
Head Coach Milan Motroni praised the team's effort, noting how each player contributed to the Pirates' success:
"Our players showed great focus and determination under tough conditions," said Motroni. "To come away with second in such a talented field speaks volumes about their commitment and growth this season."
Looking ahead, the Lady Pirates will carry this momentum into the upcoming state-level competition. The 2025 3C2A State Championships for women's golf is set to take place November 16–17, 2025, at the scenic River Course at Alisal Ranch Golf & Resort in Solvang, California. With their strong showing at regionals, the team is poised and ready to compete for the crown among the area's top junior-college programs.
