State Champions Honored at the State Capitol
The Modesto Junior College Women's Track and Field team was honored at the State Capitol by Assemblyman Juan Alanis in recognition of its historic 2025 State Championship. The title was captured at the 2025 CCCAA Track and Field Championships held at the College of San Mateo and marked the first state championship in program history. This milestone reflects the tireless dedication and leadership of head coach Brian Beeman and the entire coaching and support staff, including Demitrius Snaer, Cameron Stephens, Jessica Pedretti, Erica Krumeick, Alexles Reynoso, Sebastian Gutierrez, Alex Montijo, and Carrie Nash.
The championship capped a remarkable year for MJC Athletics as a whole. Across 22 women's and men's teams, the Pirates set a new program benchmark by finishing seventh overall in the 2024–2025 California NATYCAA Ron Case Cup standings. MJC totaled 148.5 points, the highest placement in college history in the prestigious statewide competition, which ranks community colleges based on performances in CCCAA state championship events.
MJC student athletes also continued to excel academically. During the Fall 2025 term, MJC Athletics posted strong academic results, with student-athletes earning an average cumulative GPA of 3.09. These achievements highlight the program's commitment to success both in competition and in the classroom and reflect the combined efforts of student-athletes, coaches, counselors, and faculty in fostering a culture where academic excellence is a core part of the athletic experience.
